Mr. Andrew M. Slavitt, also known as Andy, has been Interim Chief of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services since January 2015. Mr. Slavitt served as Principal Deputy Administrator of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. He serves as the Managing Director of UnitedHealth Group’s Center for Affordable Consumer Health. Mr. Slavitt served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ingenix Consulting, Inc. Mr. Slavitt served as the Chief Executive Officer of OptumInsight a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group since November 2006 and also served as its Chief Operating Officer from January 2005 to November 2006. He served as the Chief Executive Officer Of Optuminsight at OptumHealth, Inc. He founded HealthAllies, Inc. and served as its Chief Executive Officer and President from August 1999 to August 2004. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Solutions Business for UnitedHealth Group from August 2004 to January 2005. Mr. Slavitt led HealthAllies vision of making health care less expensive, more responsive and more consumer-oriented using technology, information and market power which was acquired by UnitedHealth Group in 2003. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of Paula Financial, a publicly-traded insurance holding company in Pasadena, CA and one of the 100 largest benefits distributors. He has detailed experience in healthcare insurance and medical expenses. His experience includes strategy Consultant for McKinsey & Company Inc., where he served healthcare, news media and finance clients and served as Investment Banker for Goldman, Sachs & Company. Mr. Slavitt serves as the Chairman of the Board of Quality Software Services, Inc. Mr. Slavitt served as Director of Capella Education Co. since August 29, 2007 until June 30, 2014. He serves as a Director of HealthAllies, Inc. and the Special Olympics in Southern California. He served as a Director of a venture-backed, and then public, employee benefits insurance company and one of the 100 largest benefits distributors. He serves as Member of the Board of Advisors for Habitat for Humanity International. He serves as Board member of Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He serves as a director and health policy chair for The Hope Street Group. He received his M.B.A. with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Business, and BA degree in English with honors and BS in Economics from the Wharton School and The College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.
